Q2. How long does it take to get my business started with you?
A. For home based agents, from the time we receive your signed application and annual fee, it takes about 15 business days to get you set up.

Q3. What is the term of the agreement?
A. 12 months from the receipt of your annual fee.

Q4. Will I retain ownership of my clients?
A. Absolutely, You are a self-employed independent contractor and your client list is yours.

Q5. Am I considered an Independent agent or an Employee with your program?
A. An Independent agent. Participation with dewanholidays.com means you are self-employed.

Q6. Is dewanholidays.com a multi-level marketing (MLM) or network marketing company?
A. No. MLM companies offer a completely different business model with emphasis on recruiting other agents and may offer “referral programs”. For people who are serious about building a travel business, a professional host travel agency like ours would be more to your liking. We do not expect you to spend your time recruiting people; in fact, we’d prefer you cultivate your travel clientele and build your travel business.

Q7. Do I need to be “certified” to become a home based travel agent?
A. No. There is no specific certification required to operate your own home based travel agency. We do, however, encourage you to get educated about the industry and can recommend a variety of ways to go about it.

Q8. How is it possible to become a travel agent overnight without getting a lot of expensive training?

Q13. Can I use my own domain name for my website?
A. Yes, in fact, we recommend it. If you already own a domain name, we will provide you with instructions on how to forward your domain name to our servers. If you are interested in pursuing your own unique domain name. The cost of hosting Rs 5000 + 10.3% Service tax will be extra.

Q15. Do I need any special training or course to start the business?
A. No. You don’t need to have any special training or travel related course to start the business. Our online system is very simple so any one with only basic education can use & provide services to his/her clients.

The website also offers a range of holiday packages, cruises in India & abroad. Apart from the air tickets, Hotels & packages, you can also book Eurail passes offline.

Q17. But who will support me as I don’t know anything about travel trade?

Q19. Okay, so I can get started for a few bucks. How much money can I make?
A. That's hard to answer because it depends on a lot of variables. It also depends upon what you're selling. Domestic/ International airfare doesn't make you a lot of money. But selling Packages, cruises, tours, and hotel/resort packages can earn you anything between Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 PM. For example, selling a Europe/ USA package to one family of 4 get you Rs 14,000 to 18,000.

Dewanholidays.com also provide you the facility to add your mark up on air tickets & hotels as per your choice.
Finally, there's the question of how much time you devote to it and how good a businessperson and salesperson you are.

Q20. How will I pay for the services i.e. Air Tickets, Hotels, and Packages etc?
A. For Air tickets & Hotels you need to deposit the money in our ICICI bank account as per detail given above. You can use 100% of your money for these services. Whereas for packages you can pay initial money to confirm the package & balance 30 days before departure.

Q21. Good, Now I became Home Based Online Travel Agent. But to whom I should contact for the business?
A. Charity starts from home. Start contacting your parents, brothers, sister, friends, uncle, aunty, cousins, colleagues, neighbor and any one who travels or help other to travel. Contact who are working in some companies. LTC packages can be sold to Govt. / PSU staff. Try to get their holiday option for coming days, their budgets & destination. Initially it may take some time but yes, all these information help you to get regular business.

Q22. But, what about other benefits like big discounts & free trips with the groups?

Q23. I would love to sell groups, but don’t know where to start. Can you help?

Q24. Why can't I just deal directly with the airlines and the cruise operators and avoid the travel agency entirely?
A. For a number of reasons. For one thing, the airlines won't let you. They only issue tickets and send commissions to travel agencies that they have accredited. You could become one but it costs an arm and a leg and takes a lot of time.
Also, it's a lot easier and more convenient to deal with one travel agency than dozens of suppliers. As you gain more experience, you'll find that you'll start dealing directly with some suppliers -- cruise lines in particular. That way, of course, you don't have to split the commission with anyone and you can start making some real money.
You'll still have to maintain a relationship with a travel agency. however, if you want to continue selling airline tickets.

Q25. What kinds of people are joining ?
A. All sorts. Students, Teachers, Professors, House wives with good social Circle, LIC agents, property Dealers, & also a lot of experienced travel agents taking this route. They can make more money than they would as an employee and they avoid the high overhead of starting their own agency.
